Reset HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions\Exchnage Extensions back to its old value "4.0;emsuix32.dll;7;011111111111110;1111011100".
Question:
Apparently there are some problems with v2.0.2 of Lockspam and Microsoft Outlook 2003 (11.5608.5703). The error message shown in the attached JPG file [Error on registry for extension "Exchange Extensions;?". The syntax or format of the registry entry is incorrect. Check the registry settings and compare the registry for this extension to other extensions in the registry.] can be generated on this machine as follows (Outlook is shut down):
Install Lockspam v2.0 WITHOUT first uninstalling LockSpam v1.6. Near the end of the install routine that error message shows up a total of about 4 or five times.
Remove LockSpam v2.0. Again, near the end of the removal routine that same error message shows up.
Do a "clean install" of LockSpam v2.0. No error message during the actual install. However, when Outlook is first started, the sequence of error messages does show up again
Do a "repair" and the error messages show up again when Outlook is started.
Solution:
After consulted our Product Team, we finally figure out that it's Spam Filter update for Outlook 2003 does that - if you download and
install it, it will corrupt that registry key, at least that is the culprit as far as we know. Outlook does not read that reg key until another extension
(Redemption) is installed, so at that point it sees the corrupt reg key
and complains. You can simply reset HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions\Exchnage Extensions back to its old value "4.0;emsuix32.dll;7;011111111111110;1111011100".
